Humble-Bee, A History

After meeting as Horticultural students in Scotland, 2013, Jenny & Frantisek first formed The Humble-Bee Gardeners in South London. They then relocated again to somewhere with a bit more space and family… Beautiful Ludlow, Shropshire.
The Humble-Bee Gardeners has now been Ludlow based since 2015 and has grown year on year. From the beginning we have benefited from a wonderful, loyal and growing client base and were lucky enough to find team members who carry equally our ethos and dedication. Our garden team is always growing and each member comes with their own area of expertise but we are all united in our passion for horticulture and work hard to create lasting and inspiring spaces for our clients.
We aim to care for gardens with only a positive impact to the wider environment. We do not use pesticides or chemicals and encourage all our gardens to contribute to the health of the local flora and fauna.
Our sister company, The Humble-Bee Landscaping & Construction Ltd, was born through a need to ensure a high quality in our garden builds and means we not only design gardens and maintain then, but build them too! (It all sounds very greedy but hey, it’s what we love to do). Our landscape team is the perfect compliment and ensures the same high principles and standards are carried out throughout the entire process.

Upon choosing a name for the gardening business that hinted at our love of natives and pollinators, and taking into account that Frantisek was a beekeeper for 15 years, we circled around the word Bumble-Bee. On finding that Darwin’s original name for the bumblebee was in fact humblebee, it only made sense to combine this wonderful word and make The Humble-Bee Gardeners our name! It was meant to be…
